Pediatric Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine

Kids can benefit from acupuncture and Chinese medicine, too! At Balance Acupuncture, pediatric care is gentle, individualized, and designed around your child’s comfort.

Every child is different, so we meet them where they are. Some children are comfortable with acupuncture right away, while others prefer non-needle techniques. Our goal is to make each visit feel safe, engaging, and even fun while supporting your child’s health and well-being.

Gentle treatment for little bodies

We use the tiniest needles and an extremely gentle needling technique for infants and children. Needles are not retained in infants and young children, and we typically use only a few points.

And acupuncture doesn’t always mean needles. We also use a variety of gentle pediatric techniques, including:

  • Pediatric tui na, a gentle form of Chinese massage

  • Tuning forks

  • Cupping

  • Gua sha

  • Acupressure and other non-needle techniques

  • Moxa, when appropriate

Children often enjoy exploring these different techniques, and we let their comfort level guide the treatment.

Supporting the whole family

Pediatric acupuncture is about more than what happens during the treatment. We want parents to feel confident supporting their child at home, too.

During your visits, we may teach simple acupressure, massage, dietary, or other at-home techniques that can complement your child’s care. We also take time to explain what we’re doing and why, so children can become familiar with their bodies and the tools that can help them feel better.

Our goal is to create a positive experience that helps your child feel comfortable, supported, and cared for.
