Whole Body Health Care

Acupuncture for Chronic & Complex Conditions, Pediatrics, GI & More

Maybe you’re dealing with chronic pain, digestive issues, fatigue, poor sleep, headaches, hormonal changes, an autoimmune condition, or several things at once. Sometimes there’s a clear diagnosis. Other times, you’re still trying to figure out what’s going on.

When symptoms overlap, it can be hard to know where to start.

At Balance, we take the time to understand what you’re experiencing, how your symptoms connect, and what you want to feel different. We look at your health history, patterns, and goals to create a treatment plan that makes sense for you.

Your care can also work alongside the doctors, specialists, therapists, and other healthcare providers already involved in your care.

When your symptoms don’t fit neatly into one diagnosis

Complex health concerns rarely exist in isolation.

Poor sleep can make pain harder to manage. Stress can affect digestion. Digestive problems can leave you feeling drained. Hormonal changes can influence headaches, mood, and sleep. And when your nervous system has been under stress for a long time, your whole body can become more sensitive.

Rather than treating each symptom separately, Chinese medicine looks at how these pieces may be connected. That broader perspective can offer another way to understand what’s happening in your body.

A different way of looking at your health

Chinese medicine doesn’t require every symptom to fit into a single diagnosis.

We look for patterns across your body and consider things like Qi, Blood, Yin, Yang, and the functional systems described in Chinese medicine, along with your symptoms, health history, and response to treatment.

Two people can have the same diagnosis and need completely different treatments. Your acupuncture treatment is based on your individual pattern, not a standard protocol for your diagnosis.

When helpful, we can also consider information from your existing healthcare, including relevant lab work, imaging, medications, and treatment history, to better understand the bigger picture.

When your nervous system is feeling overwhelmed

For some people living with chronic or complex conditions, the nervous system can become especially sensitive.

You might notice pain, fatigue, sleep problems, digestive changes, headaches, temperature sensitivity, dizziness, or feeling overwhelmed by stress or stimulation.

When this is part of your picture, more treatment isn’t always better. We pay attention to what your body can tolerate and how you respond, adjusting your care along the way.

Sometimes that means starting gently and building from there. The goal isn’t to push your body harder. It’s to give it the right amount of support at the right time.

How acupuncture can support whole-body health

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine can be part of your care for:

  • Pain & recovery: Back and neck pain, joint pain, arthritis, headaches, migraines, and injury recovery

  • Digestive health: IBS, reflux, bloating, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, and digestive discomfort

  • Stress & nervous system health: Stress, anxiety, sleep concerns, and feeling overwhelmed

  • Energy & fatigue: Low energy, chronic fatigue, and difficulty feeling restored

  • Immune & autoimmune health: Supportive care alongside treatment for chronic and autoimmune conditions

  • Cancer care: Supportive care for symptoms and treatment side effects such as nausea, fatigue, pain, and stress

  • Complex health concerns: When multiple symptoms or hard-to-diagnose concerns overlap

Complex & Chronic Conditions

We work with people navigating conditions and symptom patterns including:

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) • Hypermobility spectrum disorders • POTS • Long COVID • Autoimmune conditions • Chronic fatigue • Chronic pain • Complex digestive concerns

You don’t need to have one specific diagnosis to benefit from this approach.

If you’re managing several symptoms at once, living with a chronic condition, or feel like your body isn’t responding the way it used to, we can start by looking at the bigger picture.

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine can also be used as complementary care, working alongside your physicians, specialists, physical therapists, and other healthcare providers.

Your care can change as you do

Your treatment may include:

  • Acupuncture

  • Chinese herbal medicine

  • Moxibustion

  • Cupping

  • Gua sha

  • Therapeutic bodywork

  • Nutrition and dietary recommendations

  • Lifestyle and nervous-system support

You may need one approach or several. Your treatment can change as your symptoms change, and we adjust along the way based on how your body responds.

The goal isn’t to give you another generic protocol to follow. It’s to understand your body and create care that makes sense for you.

Cancer Support

Acupuncture can be used as supportive care alongside cancer treatment. Depending on your needs and treatment plan, care may focus on concerns such as nausea, fatigue, pain, sleep difficulties, stress, and other treatment-related symptoms.

We can work alongside your oncology team and adapt your care as your health and treatment change.

Pediatric Acupuncture

Children and teens can experience many of the same health concerns as adults, from digestive issues and headaches to stress, sleep difficulties, and chronic or complex conditions.

We adapt acupuncture and Chinese medicine to each child’s age, comfort level, and individual needs. Our goal is to create a calm, approachable experience while helping parents understand how their child’s care can fit into their overall healthcare.

You don’t have to figure it all out at once

When you’ve been dealing with multiple symptoms or a chronic condition, it can be frustrating to feel like you’re constantly chasing the next symptom.

You deserve care that takes the time to look at how everything fits together, not just the diagnosis on a chart.

We’ll start with where you are, figure out what makes sense to address first, and build from there.

Our goal is to help you feel better, function better, and feel more at home in your body.
