Lauren’s Story
I grew up outside of Washington DC, and studied Cultural Anthropology at the University of Maryland. Interested in ethnomusicology and music preservation, I worked for the Smithsonian Institution before moving to Portland, OR, to continue my work in the music business. Inspired by Portland’s progressive health care environment and my own experiences with Chinese medicine, a desire to help people with acupuncture brought me back to the east coast and into graduate school. I have successfully used acupuncture and natural remedies to support my own health beginning in my teens for allergies and asthma, and have since been dedicated to the medicine.
In my practice, I enjoy treating as a general practitioner, helping people in all walks of life using an integrative and patient-centered approach. Acupuncture is an empowering medicine, and ultimately my goal is to help my patients take back control of their health and feel strong in their body.
In my post-graduate work, I’m advancing my training in fertility and women’s health through continuing education intensives. I have studied with Jeffrey Yuen, 88th generation Daoist priest, and continue to attend his seminars to expand my knowledge of Classical Chinese Medicine.
I work hard to keep a good balance of the things that are most important to me: my family, my work, and my social life. When I’m not at the clinic, you can find me on the tennis courts with friends, playing games with my family, at pilates, rooting for my DC sports teams, or reading/listening to a good book!
“I really hate to leave such a wonderful review of Balance acupuncture with Lauren because then that means the secret will be out as to how she takes such good care of me. I see her/trust her more than my general practitioner. Whatever I have going on she genuinely considers it and we do a needle for that section. My saying is “I bet acupuncture would help tha”t and Lauren is the person that I refer people to.”
