Lauren’s Story
Lauren is the founder of Balance Acupuncture and a nationally board-certified acupuncturist and herbalist with over a decade of clinical experience. Her practice is rooted in Classical Chinese Medicine- a lineage she has studied through advanced training with Jeffrey Yuen, 88th generation Daoist Priest. She draws on this depth of knowledge especially for complex and chronic cases.
Lauren's path to acupuncture began in college, when she started using Chinese medicine to successfully treat her allergies and asthma. That experience completely changed how she understood health and healing. After studying Cultural Anthropology at the University of Maryland and working for the Smithsonian Institution, she followed her calling to graduate school, earning her Master's of Science in Oriental Medicine from Daoist Traditions College in Asheville, NC in 2013.
In her practice, Lauren enjoys treating as a general practitioner, helping people in all walks of life with an integrative, patient-centered approach. Her goal is to help every patient take back control of their health and feel strong in their body. She also has a special love for treating pediatric patients (she has a 7 year old daughter herself), offering a gentle and supportive approach for little ones of all ages.
When she's not at the clinic, you'll find Lauren on the tennis courts, hanging with her husband and daughter and 2 kittens, listening to 90’s rock, rooting for her DC sports teams, or lost in a good book.
“I really hate to leave such a wonderful review of Balance acupuncture with Lauren because then that means the secret will be out as to how she takes such good care of me. I see her/trust her more than my general practitioner. Whatever I have going on she genuinely considers it and we do a needle for that section. My saying is “I bet acupuncture would help tha”t and Lauren is the person that I refer people to.”
