Dr. Tinsley’s Story
Dr. Tinsley is a Five Element Acupuncture practitioner with a deep passion for treating the whole person-body, mind, and spirit. With a Doctorate from Maryland University of Integrative Health and a background in Psychology and Exercise Science from UNC-Chapel Hill, she brings a unique blend of clinical depth and emotional attunement to her work.
Dr. Tinsley has a special interest in working with teens and young adults who are navigating anxiety, burnout, stress, and the pressures of modern life. If you're feeling overwhelmed, depleted, or just not quite like yourself- she gets it, and she's here for it. She also treats women's health (cycle support, fertility, pregnancy, and menopause) and autoimmune conditions, and welcomes anyone looking for a deeply supportive and holistic approach to their care.
Her path to acupuncture began with a needle phobia, and a sister. Being afraid of needles at the time, she reluctantly attended her sister's acupuncture appointment as "moral support" and left completely captivated. The calm, the gentleness, the healing she witnessed sparked something she couldn't ignore. She wanted to learn how to facilitate the same healing and pain-alleviation for others that she witnessed acupuncture bring about for her sister. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2019, Tinsley moved to Maryland to pursue her Doctorate, eventually returning south to Charleston where she now calls home.
Dr. Tinsley's sessions draw on Five Element Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), NADA protocol, nutritional and lifestyle counseling, moxibustion, gua sha, cupping, and meditation. Her goal is for you to leave feeling more at ease, supported, and balanced in your body, mind, and spirit.
About Five Element Acupuncture
Five Element Acupuncture is a holistic approach to healing that treats the root cause of imbalance- physically, emotionally, and energetically. Based on the five elements of nature (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water), this style of acupuncture sees each person as a unique expression of these forces. By identifying and supporting your dominant element, treatments help restore balance, relieve symptoms, and promote deep, lasting well-being. It’s especially effective for those who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or out of sync with themselves, offering a gentle and personalized path to healing.
“Tinsley is exceptional. She meets you exactly where you are, both physically and mentally, and takes the time to understand your body’s needs as well as your personal goals. I hadn’t had acupuncture in years, but I immediately felt relaxed, supported, and deeply cared for. Her gentle, compassionate approach puts you at ease, and I left the session feeling lighter, rejuvenated, and more grounded. I highly recommend her and definitely need to make this a regular part of my self-care routine.”
