Dr. Tinsley’s Story

Hi, I’m Tinsley! I first discovered acupuncture thanks to my sister, Addi. Since I had a major needle phobia at the time, I remember hesitantly attending her appointment as “moral support.” However, once I was in the treatment room with her and her practitioner, I was captivated by how gentle and calm both the atmosphere and acupuncture treatments were. Something about observing my sister’s treatments began to awaken something in me, and I began to feel this pull to study acupuncture so that I could learn how to facilitate the same healing and pain-alleviation for others that I witnessed acupuncture bring about for my sister.

In 2019, after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Exercise Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I took a leap and moved to Columbia, MD to pursue a Doctorate in Acupuncture at Maryland University of Integrative Health. In 2023, I graduated from MUIH with my Masters in Acupuncture and became a licensed acupuncturist in Maryland.

A year later, I completed my Doctorate in Acupuncture and moved back down south to Charleston. Since then, I have completed my Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM)® to become both a South Carolina and nationally board-accredited acupuncturist. Throughout my training, I have learned Traditional Chinese Medicine, Five Element Acupuncture, and NADA protocol. I continue to be amazed at how powerful the mind-body connection is and how the body innately knows how to heal when given the nourishment, support, and conditions it needs.

Guided by the wisdom of East Asian Medicine and nature, I love to partner with my clients to create individualized and holistic protocols. Whether it’s anxiety, insomnia, stress-alleviation, pregnancy, a life transition, or even simply wanting to feel your best, my mission is to empower, foster healing, optimize health, and enhance overall well-being through patient-practitioner collaboration.

In addition to acupuncture, I offer nutritional and lifestyle counseling, moxibustion, gua sha, cupping and meditation – my goal is for you to leave our time together feeling more at ease, supported and balanced in your body, mind, and spirit. Please reach out – I’d love to get to work together!

About five element acupuncture

Five Element Acupuncture is a holistic approach to healing that treats the root cause of imbalance- physically, emotionally, and energetically. Based on the five elements of nature (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water), this style of acupuncture sees each person as a unique expression of these forces. By identifying and supporting your dominant element, treatments help restore balance, relieve symptoms, and promote deep, lasting well-being. It’s especially effective for those who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or out of sync with themselves, offering a gentle and personalized path to healing.
